So I’ve finally figured out what I want to major in. After being and English Literature major for three semesters, I’ve finally realized that I am so tired of English. I love reading and writing just about anything, don’t get me wrong. Its just…I really don’t want to spend the rest of my life doing this. And all of the English classes available to register for are really boring, bread-and-butter classes. Nothing very interesting or out of the ordinary, just basic “17th century literature” or “poetry” or “Medieval/Renaissance Literature”. Absolutely nothing original. Thus, I am tired of it. So after much pondering and thinking on the matter, I’ve changed majors to Sociology with an Anthropology concentration. I’m taking an anthro class currently, and really love it. Its just totally interesting, and I’m (almost) positive that this is what I want to do with my life. (If its not…man I’m screwed.)
This afternoon I also went out with T. for the day, which was really really nice. We tried out the Thai noodle bar in Media, which I had heard was good but had never gone too. It was really good, actually. I had never had Thai, but T. said it was generally really good. I also discovered I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food. For which T. laughed at me. The noodle bar was really cool though, because it wasn’t busy at all (come to think of it, I never see people in/around there…ever.) and it was really chill. So you could sit at the table and talk for hours, without worrying about being kicked out because they need your spot for someone else. We took full advantage of that. We hit up the little coffee shop down the street too–man I love that place. Really comfy and relaxing, and all of the coffee/tea/whatever is fair trade. Its like an un-franchised Starbucks that actually cares about the people it gets its tea from! T. doesn’t drink coffee though, so we had hot chocolate. Which is fabulous. It’s like…real hot chocolate. Not chocolate flavored water like a lot of places. Oh, speaking of, the hot tea I had at the Thai place was AMAZING! It was like a white tea, and had a distinctively orange-y aftertaste. It was fabulous. And I had no idea that Thai iced tea was so different from regular iced tea. T. got some, and it was freaking ORANGE! But tasted surprisingly good. Like, really good.
Anyway. Managed to ditch the meter-maid right as he was writing up tickets, because we totally forgot to put quarters in the meter. Hah. I would have felt really bad if the Mini got written up. Because I totally KNOW the meters are there, I just forget about them. Oh well.
Rented a movie too, but I think we chose wrong. We got that new one with both the Wilson brothers in it…I don’t even remember what it’s called. Tried watching it, but we totally lost interest like ten minutes into it. Its really odd, not that funny, and just…eh. Plus the disc was scratched or something, so it kept skipping around and fuzzing the picture. Should have gone with Transformers.
But all in all, awesome day!
And two down on my list. Only…a lot…more to go.
So I recently found out about this project, 101 things in 1001 days and I’m really excited to give this a try. I’m usually really horrid at (read: lazy, procrastinating, unmotivated, or forgetful of) keeping New Year’s resolutions, and I’ve usually lost the list or given up by about January 10th. I’m going to make this list different though; its longer, and these are going to be important life goals, not the petty or cliche things that people usually make resolutions about. Well, most of them won’t anyway. I figure since I’m turning 20 soon, I might as well start acting like a semi-adult…sometimes.
As I’m writing this, I realize how hefty of a list this is. Thinking up 101 things is a lot harder than I thought it was, and will most likely be a lot harder to accomplish than it is to write! I’m going to do my absolute best to finish this whole list in 1001 days, but some of them might be even longer-term goals. We’ll see.
So, without further ado, The List. currently in progress
